Eyeglasses
Design, material and lens treatments are the three components that make up a pair of prescription lenses. It is important to select the right combination of these elements for your particular visual needs.
The knowledgeable staff at our office will consider long-term wearing comfort, style, features and function when suggesting a new pair of eyeglasses. The eyeglasses become as unique as the person taking them home.
Eyeglass Lenses
Selecting the right eyeglass lens depends largely on its function. From single vision lenses to progressive and hi-index lenses, we are happy to help you find what best suits your needs. Whether you need distance, reading, bifocal, trifocal, progressive, computer, music, sport or occupational/safety lenses, we can help determine what will work best for you in terms of comfort, function and design.
Frame Styles
When choosing a frame, the shape and size of the frame should enhance the color of your eyes, complement your skin tone and play up the best features of your face shape. Proper fit is of utmost importance, not only for comfort, but to achieve the best possible vision, especially for bifocal and progressive lens wearers. Our frame selection services and attention to measurement details will assure you get the best fit for your needs.
The style and color choices available today, combined with our active lifestyles, often lead many people to choose more than one pair of glasses. We offer sport and safety frames as well as a nice selection of sunglasses. Ask us about special promotions on multiple pairs of glasses.
Sunglasses
With the wide variety of lens options available, you can customize your sunglasses to meet your visual, protection, performance and comfort needs. Sunglasses protect your eyes from harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation, which is present even on cloudy days. Quality sunwear provides 100 percent UV protection and can significantly reduce the risk of vision problems caused by sunlight, such as cataracts and retinal damage.
Photochromic lenses that transition into sunglasses are a nice option to varying light conditions. The lenses adapt to the amount of sunlight available, and fade to completely clear indoors. There are several types of photochromic lenses, including polarized, to suit almost every need.
Glare, an issue that makes it difficult to see objects clearly by washing out colors and details, can be addressed with polarized lenses. Looking at a scene with polarized lenses, you’ll notice the colors are deeper, richer and bolder, and details are clearer and more distinct. Polarized lenses also help reduce squinting, which, in turn, reduces eye fatigue, tension and eyestrain. These lenses are great for driving, as well as people who enjoy being around water.
Anti-Reflective Lenses
Wearers of prescription glasses and sunglasses commonly encounter annoying glare and reflections caused by light bouncing off their lenses. This glare makes it more difficult to see, especially at night. Anti-reflective lenses reduce these reflections and provide more protection against UV light that is harmful to your eyes.
All lens surfaces naturally reflect light and this reflection can prevent between 7 to 14 percent of the light needed for optimal vision from reaching your eyes. Wearing non-AR lenses is like trying to read a book in a dimly lit room. Since AR lenses allow more light to reach your eyes by reducing reflections, it’s like turning up the lights in a room, making it easier to see. AR coatings reduce halos around headlights to make night driving easier and safer. The coatings also have anti-static properties that repel dust, a hydrophobic layer that repels water, an oleophobic layer that reduces smudges from skin oils, and a hard coat to protect against scratches. These layers make your lenses very easy to clean when your lenses do get dirty. Cosmetically, AR lenses let people see your eyes! It gives you a very professional and polished look. As an added bonus, no more annoying starbursts in the photos when you have your picture taken! The AR coatings available today have advanced leaps and bounds over the coatings used years ago. The Crizal Prevencia coating filters out harmful blue-violet light that is emitted from computers, cell phones, tablets, LEDÂ and CFL lighting. This blue-violet light presents a risk factor for the onset of age-related macular degeneration.
